Livestock Vaccine Innovation Fund, IDRC, Canada.
As a senior programme officer at the IDRC, I manage a large portfolio focused on vaccine development projects targeted at low and middle-income countries. I am an expert in infectious disease immunology and vaccine discovery with extensive experience in the identification and evaluation of veterinary vaccines for both “proof-of-concept” and clinical trials for safety and immunogenicity. Prior to joining IDRC, I completed two post-doctoral research fellowships at the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organisation-International vaccine Centre in Canada and KEMRI - Wellcome Trust Research Programme in Kilifi, Kenya. I am interested in strengthening the capacity of African scientists and institutions to conduct world-class science and keen on exploring innovative funding mechanisms that would contribute to this goal.
